A Language disorder is the impaired development of comprehension or use of a spoken, written, or pragmatic communication for one’s chronological age. Language disorders can affect both spoken and written language.
Language is the basis for all learning and speech development. This includes vocabulary, sentence structure, length of sentences, and verbal organization. Language problems can include: communicating ineffectively, errors in grammar, difficulty expressing ideas (written and verbally) , and the misuse of the Pragmatics of Language.
Pragmatics is the use and social aspect of language. For example: Appropriately initiating a topic, changing a topic, asking questions, body language, voice tone, and eye contact. I am one of a very few that is a specialist in The Pragmatics of Language, particularly with the ASD population.
